Biography
Tommy was born and raised in Sheffield, AL.
York Terrace Baptist Church is his home Church.
He was saved at the age of 12 during a revival service.
Bro. Hammer was pastor at that wonderful time in his life.
Tommy was very active in high school sports and in church
activities such as RA’s and Choir.
Tommy graduated from Sheffield High School in 1977. He attended UNA
for a couple of years and then transferred to the University of Alabama,
where he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
It was during this period of his life that he felt the call to
serve God in the area of Bi-vocational Youth Ministry.
God opened the door for Tommy’s service here at YTBC, where he
served as Interim Minister of Youth from 1987 to 1990.
He later served as Youth Minister at Calvary Baptist Church in
Tuscumbia from 1992 to 1994 until he resigned due to back pain from a
herniated disk.
Tommy became Interim Youth Minister here at YTBC once again in the
fall of 2001. After Bro.
Sammy Wallace became pastor, Tommy was called as Bi-Vocational Minister of
Youth on April 21, 2002. Tommy is currently employed
by the city of Sheffield.
During his ministry here, the Youth Ministry has grown
considerably.
Tommy and his wife, Dee, were married in 1985.
They have 2 children, Thomas and
Chelsea. Prior to becoming
part of the staff at YTBC, Tommy was an active Deacon at the Church.
