Biography
Jeff
began his ministry in Youth and Education, and served several churches in
Oklahoma and Georgia before coming to serve York Terrace as Minister of
Education. Jeff was born in Oklahoma - Go Sooners!—and attended college
at Central State University in Edmond, where he majored in Sociology and
Criminal Justice. While at
Southwestern Seminary seeking a Masters of Education, he met and married
wife Sandie of High Springs, Florida.
They celebrated 161/2 years of blissful marriage in
March.
On Feb.
2, 2003, Jeff began his ministry here at YTBC.
His 12 years of prior Minister of Education experience provided Jeff with
the background he needed to oversee the total education program at YTBC.
He also works to help members find their skills and gifts, and
works with committees to establish short-term and long-term goals.
In the area of outreach, he leads GO Teams, updates the
prospect files, and finds new ways of getting the word out to the
community.
Jeff has several outside interests. One is Metal Detecting, whether on the beach looking for rings, on the site of a Civil War camp, or in a local park searching for coins. He has found that people love to talk about treasures lost and found. Another is Shoals TRAC Running Club, of which he is Vice-president. Jeff works the finish line at several races through the year, runs a few more, & directs the local Cross-Country Camp each July. For the Alabama State Convention, Jeff organizes a monthly lunch meeting for local Ministers of Education. And two or three times a year, he leads Sunday School seminars across the state in sharing ways to do Sunday School better.
